A Decade of Purpose; More Than a Franchise

Jean DeFilippis didn’t set out to change lives. She set out to build a business. A decade later, she’s done both.

More Than a Franchise

Most franchise owners measure success in growth. Jean DeFilippis measures it in families kept together.

For nearly 10 years, Jean has operated ARCpoint Labs across five territories in the Pittsburgh area. What started as a straightforward drug testing franchise has grown into something far more purposeful: a business deeply rooted in the Pittsburgh community, serving employers, individuals, and institutions that depend on accurate, reliable testing.

This August, Jean marks 10 years since opening her brick-and-mortar location — a milestone that reflects not just longevity, but depth of impact. Her story is a testament to what’s possible when a franchise owner leans fully into the mission behind the business.

Where Drug Testing Meets Community Impact

At the heart of Jean’s business is a commitment to serving the Pittsburgh community across multiple sectors. Her work spans commercial employers, healthcare institutions, and county agencies — all of whom depend on accurate, court-admissible results and a trusted partner who understands the weight of what those results mean.

In some of the most consequential situations a testing provider can serve — including cases that inform child welfare decisions — Jean’s expertise has elevated her role far beyond specimen collection. Pennsylvania courts have recognized DeFilippis as an expert witness, and she regularly testifies in cases where lab results carry legal significance, helping judges and caseworkers understand what the science actually means for the people in front of them.

But that’s just one dimension of a business built on breadth. The majority of Jean’s focus is on growing her commercial client base by partnering with employers across industries to build safer, more compliant workplaces through drug and alcohol testing, DOT compliance, background screening, and policy development.

“What we do isn’t just testing — it’s context. A result on its own doesn’t tell the whole story. My job is to help our clients understand what it means and what to do with it.”

— Jean DeFilippis, ARCpoint Labs Franchise Owner, Pittsburgh

A Decade of Evolution

Jean’s ten-year journey with ARCpoint Labs is a case study in how a mission-driven operator can evolve with the needs of their community. Starting with employer drug testing, she built the trust, credentials, and operational capacity to serve her market at the highest level — and kept expanding from there.

Now, as she marks her 10th anniversary, Jean is expanding once again — growing into occupational medicine and telehealth services. It’s a move that reflects both the flexibility of the ARCpoint Labs model and the ambition of an owner who has never stopped asking: who else can we serve?

“The ARCpoint Labs model gave me the foundation. What I built on top of it — that came from understanding the community and showing up for it every day.”

— Jean DeFilippis, ARCpoint Labs Franchise Owner, Pittsburgh

What ARCpoint Labs Brings to the Table

ARCpoint Labs is the only nationwide business-focused lab capable of delivering complete, end-to-end employer solutions on a single invoice. That breadth is exactly what makes it so well suited for complex, high-stakes environments — where accuracy, confidentiality, and chain of custody aren’t just best practices, they’re legal requirements. ARCpoint Labs offers a full spectrum of drug and alcohol testing methods, including urine, hair, saliva, and blood testing, each with specific detection windows designed to meet the needs of the situation at hand. For employers, courts, and agencies, that means pre-employment screening, random testing, post-accident testing, reasonable suspicion testing, and court-ordered testing — all conducted with rigorous accuracy and secure results reporting. Beyond testing itself, ARCpoint Labs supports clients with policy development, DOT compliance, background screening, supervisor and staff training, and Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs). It’s a model built not just to deliver results, but to help organizations understand them — and act on them responsibly.

What Legacy Looks Like in Franchising

Jean DeFilippis represents a rare kind of franchise owner — one whose expertise has made her indispensable not just to her clients, but to the institutions and businesses that rely on her work. Over five territories and nearly a decade in operation, she has built something that goes well beyond a business.

Her story is also a powerful illustration of what ARCpoint Labs makes possible. Part of the CRESSO Brands, LLC network, ARCpoint Labs gives franchise owners the tools, support, and credibility to serve their markets at the deepest level — and the freedom to grow in ways that matter most to their communities.

Ten years in, Jean DeFilippis isn’t winding down. She’s just getting started.
